Board of Trustees

The Role of the Board of Trustees

Boards of trustees play a critical role in partnership with the school principal to ensure all children at the school succeed.

The responsibility of a Board is that of governance and overview of management of the school via the Charter and Annual Plan prepared by the Principal and the Board with reference to the stakeholder groups at the school.

Daily management of the school is the responsibility of the Principal and the teaching team.   A Board member is not expected or required to spend time involved in day to day management of school activities.

The Board environment is friendly and encourages input from all Board members.   The Board is a member of the New Zealand School Trustees Association (“NZSTA”) and has access to all training material, courses and expert advice offered by the NZSTA.

We have a supportive and very committed Board of Trustees.

Board of Trustees meetings are normally held on Wednesday evenings in weeks 3 and 8 of each term starting at 5:00pm in the school staffroom.   Copies of minutes are available at the school office.   You are welcome to attend meetings.

If you would like to contact the Board of Trustees Chairperson, Bronwen Gilmour, this can be done through the school office.   Board of Trustee elections take place every three years.  The last elections were held in September 2022 and the newly elected trustees took office on 14th September.
